It was designed as a threaded (7/16-28 UNEF) version of the BNC connector, offering a better connection that will not de-couple with vibration.
The TNC connector has a 50 Ohm impedance and performs well from DC to 11GHz
TNC connectors are available in Standard or Reverse Polarity styles.
